Janet A. Curtis, 78, of Loves Park passed away Wednesday February 21, 2018 at OSF St. Anthony Hospital. Janet was born in Rockford on January 24, 1940, the daughter of Earl Cody and Claire (Betts) McMurtrie. Janet married Harold Leon Curtis on March 2, 1957 and he preceded her in death on November 26, 1995. Janet loved to read, travel and seeing her family. She enjoyed the Donnie and Marie Variety Show and Game of Thrones on TV. Janet enjoyed board games and listening to music, especially country music and the oldies.
Janet is survived by sons: Bradley (Leslie) Curtis and Scott Curtis; daughters: Lydia (Gary) Kinne and Lorraine (Everett) Thrasher; grandchildren: Mitch (Olivia) Primeaux, Michael Curtis, Nicholas Curtis, Kortney Thrasher and Lea Kinne; numerous great-grandchildren; sisters Sandy Derouin, Linda Haines and Sharon VanNostrand-Erivn; brother Steven McMurtrie.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Michael Curtis, granddaughter Tia-Marie Kinne, 3 sisters Barbara, Ruby and Shirley, brother Mickey.
A memorial service to celebrate Janet’s life will be 4:00 pm on March 18, 2018 at Advantage Funeral Home 7000 West State Street in Rockford. Visitation for Janet will be from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm Sunday March 18, 2018 at the funeral home. Cremation rites have been accorded.
