

Janet Lucille Lantz, daughter of Gordon and Helen (Jones) Bass was born March 22, 1946 in Red Oak, Iowa. She entered the presence of her Lord on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at home in Loves Park, IL at the age of 68.
Janet graduated from Red Oak Community High School in 1964. In her senior year she met her future husband, Cary Lantz. She attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln through her junior year after which she and Cary were united in marriage on August 27, 1967. She completed her degree in Business Administration at California State U, Los Angeles, later earning an MBA (summa cum laude), followed by CPA certification.
Following employment in a variety of settings over the decades, Janet finished her working years as Operations Manager for Institutional Advancement at Baptist Bible College, Clarks Summit, PA. She retired from her labors in 2012. In all her workplaces she was highly regarded as hardworking, dedicated, extremely competent, a woman of integrity, and was loved and respected by all who knew her.
Faith, humility and joy in serving others were her defining qualities. Janet dedicated her love and energies to her family including, in her final decade, her great joy in participating in the lives of her three beloved granddaughters. She enjoyed sewing, decorating, Nebraska football, Christian music, Gaithers' concerts, attending her granddaughters' performances, women's Bible studies, HGTV and Sudoku.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Cary; son, Sean (Kathy); three granddaughters: Emma, Lucy and Kensie; brother, Byron Bass (Konnie); nephew, Brent Bass (Jennifer); niece, Jennifer (Jerald) Bass-Jacob; and other relatives

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, February 21, 2015 at First Baptist Church, Machesney Park; Pastor Heath Tibbetts officiating. Visitation will commence one hour prior to service. Interment in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
