Jessie Elsilene Scott passed away on March 22, 2018 at Alden Debes in Rockford, Illinois after a recent illness. She was born in Success, Arkansas on January 1, 1933 at her family’s home. She worked various jobs throughout her life. As a teenager, she moved to Rockford and worked at National Lock Corp in Rockford, Illinois. She married Walter Douglass Scott on October 1, 1955 at the Big Pink Church of God in Taft, California. In 1972, she moved back to Rockford, Illinois to be closer to her family. In 1985, she retired from Warner Lambert and then moved to Ravenden Springs, Arkansas. Most noticeable, in partnership with her husband, she devoted her life to the service of the Lord as a pastor’s wife in four start-up churches in California and after retiring from the workforce, she worked at several churches for Arkansas’s Assembly of God. In addition to working for the church, she completed her High School education (GED) in Ravenden Springs Arkansas in April 1996. In May of 1999, she returned to Rockford, Illinois with her husband to spend the rest of her life with her family.
She is survived by her sons; Walter H. (Sue) Scott and Timothy E. (Jo Ann) Scott; daughter, Mary Ann Scott; six, grandchildren; six, great-grandchildren; sisters, Marilyn Marr and Yolanda Hubbard; brothers, Bill Byes, Dee Lester and Lee Lester; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, father, Austin Byes; mother, Fleeta (Byes) Lester; stepfather, Henry Lester; brothers, Melvin Byes, James Lester, Jerry Lester; grandson, Michael Scott.
