

Junior D. McCoy, 82, of Rockford IL passed away in his home on April 2, 2021 at 11:16am. He was born on December 30, 1938 in Bulls Gap TN to Elva and Bud McCoy. He was raised in Eastern TN hills and went to school in Whitesburg TN. Junior went on to work in Illinois in the later 50s with his brothers. Ultimately he got into the tree business, started a family, and relocated to Rockford. Junior eventually started his own business serving the Rockford and surrounding area with McCoy Tree Service. It became a family business working with his son, grandchildren, and valuable employees over the years. He instilled good work ethic to those he worked with and did an exceptional job for his clients.
“I don’t brag about myself, I let others do that for me” he would say, and many did.
Junior was a country western music and movie fan, especially George Jones and Elvis Presley. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting. He took many camping trips with his family to Yogi-Bear resort in Wisconsin. Junior was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Everyone knew him wherever he went. He spent nearly 40 years with his loving wife, Evelyn McCoy (Lowry.) He will be missed by many.
He is survived by his loving wife Evelyn McCoy;
Children; Richard (Sherri) McCoy, Karin (Harold) Cronin, Phyllis McCoy, Tammy Jo (Melvin) McCoy, and Terrie Hardcastle. Stepchildren; Beth (George) Parsons, and Todd (Sharon) Levey.
Grandchildren; Alberto Bradley Carmona Huerta, Enrique (Andrea) Carmona Huerta, Richie (Aimee) McCoy, Carla Jo (Joe) Fletcher, Amy Jo (Anthony) Miller, Angela Rodriguez, Jesse (Samantha) McCoy, Jeni McCoy, Kyle McCoy, Joel McCoy, Amanda (Jason) Moller, Laura (William) Herman.
Great Grandchildren; Octavio, Gabriella, Sophia, Miguel, Ricky and Gabriel, as well as, Avi, Abigail, Quinten, Gracie, Josie, and Tyler, and AmyriCali, and Olivia, Xavier, and Connor, Christopher, Kayleeanna, as well as Ryhs, Sienna, and Amalia, Andres, Adrian, as well as Madeline, Joshua, Carson, and Connor.
He is also survived by his siblings; George McCoy and Catherine Oler.
He is predeceased by his parents, Bud and Elva; first wife JoDell Hinkle McCoy, daughter Della (Alberto) Carmona Huerta; siblings, Arlee, Guy, Harvey, Edith, and Ruth, as well as many other beloved family members and friends.
A limited walk thru visitation will be held Tuesday April 6 from 5-730pm at Advantage Funeral Home at 7000 W. State St. Rockford IL. Funeral service will be held Wednesday April 7 at 10am at Advantage with George McCoy officiating. Burial to follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
