

Kyle Richard Bolterstein, 40, of Machesney Park, Illinois, passed away November 1, 2025 in Rockford Illinois having lost his battle with a lengthy illness. Kyle was born on February 4, 1985, to Carol and Richard Bolterstein in Royal Oak, Michigan.
Kyle attended Rochester Adams High School and furthered his education at Michigan State University majoring in Packaging and German.
Kyle was a warm and caring person with widely diversified interests. Kyle was the proud papa to Zeke, his faithful Golden Retriever. He loved The Muppets and Calvin and Hobbs because he appreciated their positive outlook. He was respectfully engaged with nature treasuring the time he spent skiing, fly fishing, hiking, star gazing and gardening. He was an avid beekeeper and enjoyed experimenting with food having recently canned a delicious rose petal jam. He enjoyed cruising in Eleanor, his 1969 Datsun 2000, with the top down. He was also an avid reader enjoying a wide variety of material.
Kyle was not only a nature lover. He actively supported causes impacting the less fortunate and those being mistreated by others. Kyle prioritized giving over taking and was fiercely independent. He proudly marched with many humanitarian and environmental organizations always championing the less fortunate. Kyle will be remembered as genuine and kind as his ‘Misfit’ crew will proudly attest.
He is survived by his father, Richard; siblings Bridget (Greg) Halenda of Wauwatosa, WI and Alex (Jessica) Bolterstein and children Scarlett and Reid, of Adel, IA. Kyle was preceded in death by his mother, Carol Bolterstein.
