Larry Barr

Larry Barr, age 76, passed away unexpectedly in his home on Saturday, July 16, 2022. Larry was born on May 14, 1946 in Rockford, IL. He was a graduate of Auburn High School, class of 1964. He was the owner of Larry Barr Builders until his passing. Not only was he a very talented contractor/carpenter, he was a hero. Larry served bravely in the Vietnam War as a Marine and dedicated his life to helping his community. He was active in fundraisers, Toys-For-Tots, Marine Corps Play Day etc. Larry was devoted and protective of his family and never stopped showing his support. He had many hobbies that included golfing, volleyball, reading, gardening, and NASCAR but most of all, he loved to spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Larry Barr has made a huge impact on many lives and showed his love for others in many ways. He will always be in our hearts, we will miss him greatly.

Larry is survived by his wife, Mickey Barr; three children, Kristina Barr, Shannon (Fred) Anderson and Shaun Smith; grandchildren, Alexander Smith, Sara Waeffler, Xavier Crossland, Angelina Barr; great-grandchildren, Hailey, Courtney, Kamariah; brother, Richard (Lavina) Barr, sister Kathie (Mike) Rager. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil (Arlene) Barr and sister, Donna Spires.

A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, July 21, 2022 at Chapelwood Church. Located at 3625 Halsted Road, Rockford, IL. Fellowship to follow in the church gym.
