

Nyle was born in Peoria, IL on August 27, 1949, the son of Wilburn and Garnet (Forsythe) Smith. Nyle attended the Illinois School for the Deaf in Jacksonville, IL and graduated from the class of 1967. Nyle enjoyed bowling, watching WWE Wrestling and watching his favorite “Red Birds” the St. Louis Cardinals baseball games. He loved to fish and told anyone he could a good joke. Despite the fact that he was deaf, he always knew a way to communicate with anyone.
Nyle is survived by his four daughters: Sherri Pelley, Erica Smith, America Smith and Kyle Smith all of Rockford; one son Nyle Smith of Rockford; 13 grandchildren: Shawn (Jeni) Wade, Sheldon (Latoya) Wade, Skyler Wade, Sierra and Savannah Wade, Jordan Miller, Kingston Smith, Taylor Cipra, Makayla Cipra, Alec Cipra, Dominic Dawsey, Kayley Murphy and Jeremiah Pearson; 3 great-grandchildren: Tanner Wade, Julian Wade and Sydney Ylvisaker; one sister: Garnet (Eldon) Keer of Bartonville, IL; three brothers: Wilburn (Connie) Smith of Farmington, David (Rose) Smith of Creve Coeur, IL and Darrell (Pat) Smith of Minnesota; numerous nieces and nephews survive.
Nyle was preceded in death by his parents Wilburn and Garnet Smith, one sister Judith Goodnight; three brothers Sherman, Jay and James Smith; one granddaughter Nicole L. Smith.
Visitation for Nyle’s will be Friday March 1, 2013 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Advantage Funeral Home 7000 W. State St. Rockford, IL. Cremation rites will be accorded, in lieu of flowers, donation are suggested to the family. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.advantagerockford.com
