Penny Beatrice Smith-Silver, 54, formerly of Rockford, passed away at her home in Huntley, MT, Sunday, September 1, 2013. Born on January 10, 1959 in Chicago, she was the daughter of George and Barbara (Sanders) Smith and the wife of Jerry Silver.
Penny was an avid animal lover, who bred and showed Dobermans and as a young adult, showed horses. She taught obedience classes at Forrest City Dog Club for many years. Penny was loved and respected by all who knew her as both animal behavioral therapist and friend.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry; parents, George and Barbara Smith; brother and sister in law, Kurt and Dana; niece and nephew, Cassidy and Kyle; aunt, Ruth (Bob) Owens; uncle, John (Phyllis) Sanders.
Penny was predeceased by her grandparents, Wilbur and Barbara Sanders; and an uncle, Richard Sanders; special aunt, Beatrice Johnson.
Private services will be held Friday, September 13. A celebration of Penny’s life will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, September 14, at the home of Kurt and Dana Smith in Roscoe. Advantage Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be submitted at advantagerockford.com
