Richard C. Dietz, 81, of Freeport, IL, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 7, 2021 at Freeport Memorial Hospital. He was born on September 18, 1939 in Chicago, IL, the son of Willard and Hazel (Schroeder) Dietz. Rich graduated from Taft High School in 1959 and worked as a union printer in the Chicago area for many years. He had a strong sense of adventure and enjoyed hiking, bicycle riding, sky diving, horseback riding, and traveling. Most of all, he loved his family.
Rich is loved and missed by his significant other of 15 years, Mary Barber; his children, Laura L. (Anthony Bonino) London and Kurt R. (Katie) Dietz; grandchildren, Angela D. Coomes, Russell L. (Aisha) Coomes, Katharine M. (Jonathan) Loepp, and Kelly E. (Tyler) Asselin; great-grandchildren, Mia E. Coomes, Arlo R. Asselin, Rhys E. Coomes, and baby Loepp on the way; his sister, Nancy Drake; as well as several nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his twin brother, Ronald Dietz.
Per the family’s wishes, there will be no formal service at this time. A graveside service will take place at 1:00 p.m.on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Ridgewood Memorial Park in Des Plaines, IL, where he will be laid to rest with his twin brother.
