

Richard Anthony Nagel, 55, of Byron, IL surrendered to his battle with cancer at 7:00 pm, Sunday, January 30, 2011 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 3, 1955 in Delphos, OH to the late Eugene M. and Nanette (Himmeger) Nagel. He was a Corporal in the Ohio National Guard and a First Lieutenant in the Florida National Guard serving from 1979-1988. He was employed by Hamilton Sundstrand as a Research and Development Technician in Rockford, IL. He enjoyed playing computer games, reading, playing volleyball and cards with his family. Rick married Michelle Arnette of Delphos, OH on September 8, 1979. They had four children that he was extremely proud of. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, and three children, Kristin Richelle and future son-in-law Derek Buss of Carbondale, IL, Shane Travis of Dekalb,IL, Brianna Leigh of Byron, three brothers, Dan “Mike” (Kelly) Nagel of Dayton, OH, Jim (Ann) Nagel of Delphos, OH, Eugene “Pete” (Nicole) Nagel Jr. of Manchester, TN; four sisters, Diana Ream of Bellevue, OH, Mary (Jerry) Looser and Lisha (Duane) Dickrede both of Delphos, OH, Nancy Jo (Steve) Gordon of Convoy, OH. Predeceased by his infant son, Christopher Michael. Rick will be sadly missed by his entire family. A memorial gathering will be held from 2-4 pm Saturday, February 5, 2011 with a memorial service to follow at 4:00 pm at Advantage Funeral and Cremation Services, 7000 W. State Street, Rockford, IL 61102. Another Memorial Service will be held at a later date in Ohio.
