

Ruby R. Arnett, 93, of Rockford died Tuesday, May 10, peacefully at Medina Manor in Durand. She was born November 9, 1917 near Shell Lake WI. Ruby graduated from Spooner High School in 1938, where she moved to Chicago with 2 sisters and a cousin during WWII. She worked at American Manufacturing until she married George H. Arnett in 1950 in Chicago. They moved to Rockford when George became employed with Barber Coleman. Ruby worked for Amerock until the birth of her first child. Ruby then became a full time mother and homemaker for 25 years, she then returned to the workforce and worked for Pierce Chemicals for 5 years before retiring. Ruby was very involved with church activities, being a Sunday School Teacher for 18 years, being in charge of crafts for Vacation Bible School, and was a member of the Ladies Guild. During her retirement Ruby volunteered at Meet and Eat. She also enjoyed sewing, making stuffed animals for children in need, sewing Barbie clothes, quilts, and many of her own clothes, Ruby also loved to paint. Ruby will be sorely missed as an excellent mother and a true Christian. She is survived by her children, R. Elizabeth A. (William) Holt of Lake Summerset, Phillip T. (Pamela) Arnett of Pecatonica, siblings, Vernon R. (Dolores) Tripp of Spooner, WI, Joy J. Parker of St. Paul, MN, step- grandchildren, William H. (Melodie) Holt of Durand, Jacquelyn (Robert) Pryor of Broken Arrow, OK, Allyn A. (David) Miller of Lake Summerset, Heather L. Pettenger of Rockford, 7 step-great-grandchildren, 2 step-great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Ruby is preceded in death by her Husband, siblings, Opal Carlson, Crystal Stuart, Violet Rucker, and step-grandson, Bradley Holt. A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 16 at Advantage Funeral and Cremation services at 2 p.m., with a visitation one hour prior to the services.
