Vera L. Hammer

Vera L. Hammer, 82, of Rockford, IL, passed away peacefully, Sunday, January 29, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 9, 1940 in Rockford, IL, the daughter of Leonard and Ella (Fischer) Noble. Vera married her sweetheart, George Hammer, on October 9, 1965. She was employed by Southern Imperial for many years until retirement. She enjoyed scrolling through Facebook to keep updated with family and friends as well as cheering on the Green Bay Packers. Vera enjoyed dining out and especially eating McDonald’s chicken nuggets. Most of all, she adored being with her grandchildren, and hosting Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings.

Vera is loved and missed by her children, Kathy (Tracy) Neblock and Dawn (Jeff) Richman; special “daughters,” Diana (Francis) Johnson and Angie Blake; grandchildren, Ashley Hammer, Chelsey (Rick) Stonecipher, Elizabeth Stripling, Alexander Stripling, Ciarra Richman, Jordan Richman and Rachel (Brian) Branson; numerous great-grandchildren, brother, Harold Noble; half-sister, Frannie Morsen. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband George, daughter and son-in-law, Tammy (James) Stripling; grandsons, Michael Neblock, JT Stripling and special “grandson” Larry Ray, Jr.
