Wanda Raydine Blomberg, 71, of Rockford, Illinois, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on July 5, 2025. Raydine was born April 3, 1954, in Rockford to Raymond and Geraldine Johnson. The story goes that when she was born, the doctor flipped her first and middle name, hence why she is known as Wanda to some, but Raydine to those closest to her. Raydine attended East High School here locally, and it just so happened that a causal visit to a friend in the hospital led her to meeting the love of her life, Marv Blomberg. On May 22, 1971, the two married in Marv’s backyard which led them to recently celebrating 54 years together. Raydine worked as a dispatcher with Septran for many years up until retirement.
Through the years she was a part of many dart and bowling leagues. Raydine was always in the mood to make her rounds whether it was antiquing, a garage sale, or a trip to the casino. She especially loved going up north to the Wilderness Campground in Montello, Wisconsin. Camping with Raydine was an experience. She especially loved to cook there, and to this day nothing compares to her baked beans. Raydine truly loved a good adventure, which led to many great friends. Raydine loved people and never met a stranger. Above all else, she loved her family and would do anything for them no matter how big or small the task was. She was proud and protective of her own, especially her children.
Raydine is survived by her husband, Marv; children, Shannon (Jaime) Johnson, Michael (Angela) Blomberg, and special niece, but cherished as a daughter, Colice McHenry; grandchildren, Mark-Antony (Samantha) Blomberg, Corey (Melanie) Blomberg, Michael Blomberg, and Geren Stapleton; great-grandchildren, Nevaeh, Elliana, Alara and Malina; brother, John (Helen) Johnson; sister, Mary (Todd) McHenry; sister-in-law, Ann Johnson; many nieces, nephews, and special cousins who she loved dearly; cherished best friend, Rose.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Geraldine; brother, Bobby Joe Johnson; niece, Christy Johnson.
