Ret. MSgt. Archie James Hodsdon

ROXBURY- Ret. MSgt. Archie James Hodsdon, 45, of Roxbury died unexpectedly at the Togus VA Hospital in Augusta on Saturday June 28, 2014 after a short, unknown battle with lung cancer. Gulf War Syndrome is a real disease that many of our Veterans are still struggling with. Please do not forget the sacrifices made by Archie in the Persian Gulf and Iraq; nor other Veterans who were and still are being exposed to chemicals weapons during Desert Storm and other conflicts. He was born in Rumford, ME, August 9, 1968; the second eldest son of Roscoe and Lorrie (Jones) Hodsdon. He proudly served our country for 23 years in the United States Air Force. Archie was married in Nokomis, FL, on June 2, 2001, to Amy Younce, who survives in Roxbury. He is also survived by his former wife, Anjanette Sutherland, of Flower Mound, TX. Other survivors include his five children; Garrett (22) and Shelby(20) of Texas, Joshua (12), Sylvia (7), and James ( 4), of Roxbury; his parents, Lorrie (Jones) Hodsdon and Ret. MSgt. Roscoe Hodsdon of Roxbury; his in-laws, Michael and Pamela Younce of West Milton, OH, and Nancy Kinsey of Tampa, FL; Brothers, Chief Roy Hodsdon and his wife, Renee of Roxbury, Ray Hodsdon of Roxbury, sister-in-law Karen Hodsdon of Mexico, his special friend, protégé, and brother-in-law MSgt Joshua Younce and his wife Kim of Carlisle, OH, sister-in-law Nicole Alsobrooks and her husband Mark of Union, OH, sister-in-law Gina Hawkins and her husband Mark of Fletcher, OH; his uncles Butch Jones and his wife, Shirley, of Richmond, Texas, Steve Jones of Byron; his aunt Karen Hodsdon of Roxbury. He was predeceased by his older brother, Donald Hodsdon, and his Nan, Dottie Hosie, and brother-in-law Aaron Gallimore. He is also survived by a plethora of nieces, nephews, and cousins. He will be greatly missed by all whose lives he positively impacted, especially his special Aunts “The Sista’s” and Uncle Danny and Auntie Pam Bulger and the Maifields, his second family.The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Tavia Darling, our ministering angel, the staff, nurses, and doctors at the VA hospital.
