

He was born in Rumford, Maine on July 16, 1957 a son of Lewis D. and Gloria (Viger) Barnett.
Dean was educated in Rumford schools and was a graduate of Stephens High School.
He was employed with several construction companies as an ironworker throughout his lifetime and most recently, he was working as a carpenter for Construction Caterers. Dean was a member of the Snowshoe Club where he served as 2nd Vice and manager of Leo Jolin Campground at Worthley Pond.
He spent his entire summers there making sure everyone had a memorable camping experience.
Dean was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, boating, riding his Harley, snowmobiling, snowshoe races, four wheeling and spending time with his granddaughters and long adventures with his wife Chris.
He also enjoyed watching NASCAR and football.
He is survived by his mother, Gloria Barnett and companion Lindon Christie of Rumford; his wife Chris (Averill) Barnett of Rumford; two children, Katie Averill of Rumford and Deanna Barnett of Rumford; a sister, Tammy Gallant of Rumford; a brother, James Barnett of Rumford; two granddaughters, Brooklyn Averill and Arizona Averill; two goddaughters, Ericka Kubic and Kayla Desjardins; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father, Lewis D. Barnett, a brother in law, Larry Gallant and his two dogs, “Danny Boy” and “Maxx.”
