

He was born in Mexico Maine on July 10, 1931 the youngest son of Eli S. and Minnie (Richard) Desroches.
Ned attended grammar school at St. Theresa's Catholic school and was a graduate of Mexico High School.
He married Ruth Wing on May 26, 1956, they celebrated 45 wonderful years of marriage together before she passed away in 2001.
Ned was employed for 37 years with the Rumford Paper Mill after he proudly served his country in the US Army.
Ned was an avid Ski Jumper throughout the Northeast. He was especially proud of his trip to Lake Placid, NY. Ned was also an avid hunter and fisherman.
Ned's second love was his guitar. He especially loved his Blue Grass and Country Music; “He gave it a nice try.” Ned and his wife Ruth traveled in their motor home all over New England, attending Blue Grass Festivals. Ned and Ruth also enjoyed trips to PEI to visit his family.
At the age of 80, Ned and his blue grass family had the great pleasure to record a CD through the generosity of his friends. Ned will also be remembered for the "Friday Night Jams" at the Eagles Club and playing music for residents of area nursing homes. He was a member of The American Legion Post 24, The Fraternal Order of Eagles #1248, The Rumford Showshoe Club and The Rumford VFW.
Surviving are his children, Ernest Desroches and wife Brenda of Mexico, Margaret Anderson of Dixfield, Robert Desroches and wife Brenda of Dixfield, Ronald Desroches of Peru, Michael Desroches of Peru, and Theresa Riley of Dixfield; 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Ruth, 3 sisters, Irene, Theresa and Edna, and 4 brothers, Arthur, Raymond, Norman and Eli, 2 son in laws, Bruce Anderson and Bob Riley.
