Millie, as she preferred to be called was born in Rumford on October 16, 1925 to Norbert and Hannah Richard. She attended St. John’s School and Stephen’s High School. She was a lifelong communicant of St. Athanasius and St. John’s Church.
Millie married Steve C. Mickeriz on September 6, 1944 at St. John’s Church. Steve preceded her in death in 1971. She was also preceded by her parents Hannah and Norbert Richard, her brother’s Bill and Vince Richard and her beloved daughter Sally Ann Poulin.
Millie worked at Grants the Oxford Paper Mill, the Bowling Alley and Diamond International. Her hobbies throughout her life were sewing, knitting, bowling and her love of card playing. She always seemed to be in a weekly card group with her friends and they brought her much joy. She loved and enjoyed her children and grandchildren very much and supported her family in all things. She was always there for them and loved family traditions like the gathering at her home for Christmas and having the traditional “meat pies” which everyone loved. When her life took a turn for the worse and she became home bound her burdens were greatly relieved by her many friends, especially her good friend June Moore who was not only a friend, but a companion and house keeper to her. Millie was also blessed to have a great friend in Marie Doucette. The two of them loved to goad each other on and they had many interesting “discussions” amongst themselves but always remained great friends.
Millie supported many various charities throughout her life including Catholic Charities, St Jude, the American Diabetes Association and the Cancer Society. She was generous with her children and grandchildren and everyone appreciate that from her.
Survivors include her two daughters Susan Burnikel and husband Tom of Twin Falls, Idaho and their sons Marc Burnikel of Austin, TX, and Brian Burnikel and his wife Candace of Seattle Washington. Her daughter Pam Davis of Hanover and her daughter Kasey and husband Curt and son Trent of Pennsylvania, her son Jared Davis of Hanover, her daughter Alyson (Joe) Cepollina and sons Jacob, Andrew, Thomas and Michael and her daughter Emily Davis of Lewiston. She was preceded in death by her daughter Sally (Roger) Poulin of Skowhegan, Maine. Sally’s children are Christopher (Robin) Poulin of Walpol, Massachusetts, Monique (Todd) Poulin-Towle of Kingfield, Maine and their children Finn and Callahan, Michelle (Tucker) Lehigh of Saco, Maine and their children Connor and Sally, Becky (Michelle) Poulin of Boston, Massachusetts and Sarah (John) Carlson of Portland, Maine and their children Wyatt and Jack.
We would like to thank the many people who helped her including Dr. Deluca, Sandy River Center where she received kind and loving care from all the staff and the Androscoggin Home Health and Hospice for the skill and kind care in her last days.
