

RUMFORD Paul Viens of Rumford, Maine, passed away peacefully at home on June 22. Paul went to be with his Lord with his loving family around him at the age of 89 years old. Paul was born in Dover N.H. on December 28, 1931. He was the son of the late Emile Viens and his wife the late Phoebe Parent; and his mother the late Alma Drouin and her husband the late Arthur Pettis.
Paul and Eva were married July 8, 1953 and were blessed with 5 children: Paula and the late Donald Cleghorn of Ocilla, Ga; Kathie and Brad Wing of Brewer, Me; Al and the late Ann Owen of Lewiston, Me; Danny and Eileen Viens of Derry, N.H., and Doug Viens of Lisbon Falls, Me.
They were also blessed with 18 grandchildren: Donald and Sandy Cleghorn, Philip Cleghorn and Christine and Jonathan Branch of Ocilla, Ga; Jeremy and Cassandra Young of Lewiston, Me; Greg and Kim Young of Lisbon, Me, Mike Viens of Brewer, Me; Jerry and Billie Viens of Cedar Rapids Iowa; Tim and Sarah Viens and Matt Viens of Lewiston, Me; John Thomas and Melissa Decowski of Litchfield, NH; Shawn Viens and Stephanie Viens of Derry NH.; Paige Morin of Auburn, Me; Zach Morin of Lisbon, Me; Logan Morin of Auburn, Me; Adri and Brian Prindle of Lisbon Falls, Me; Kaitlin Simpson of Windham, Me; and Skylar Viens of Lisbon Falls, Me. and 18 great grandchildren.
Paul is survived by his wife of 67 years. Paul is also survived by his sisters, Lorraine Pimental of Columbus, OH and Jackie Wood of Dover NH; and brothers Joseph Pettis of Zephyr Hills, Fl; and John Pettis of Phoenix, Az.as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters Margaret Drouin Hilton and Pam Pettis Zalewski.
Paul worked at Merrimack Valley Distributors in Danvers, Ma for many years before his retirement and worked at Walmart in Mexico, Me in his retirement years. Paul enjoyed spending time with his family, and was an avid card player.
The family would like to thank the Androscoggin Hospice nurses and Comfort Home Care for their support over the past few months. A special thank you to his niece Robin for her loving care to Paul in the last months of his life.

Visitation will be held Tuesday June 29th 2-4pm and 6-8pm at S.G. Thibault Funeral Home 250 Penobscot St. Rumford Maine. A mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday June 30th at St. Athanasius Catholic church 126 Maine Ave Rumford with a committal to follow at St. John’s cemetery.
