Timothy Dean Smith

Mexico - Timothy Dean Smith, 56, of Kimball Avenue in Mexico, in the comfort of his own home and with his loving family by his side, packed his drum gear and headed off to the great gig in the sky for his final performance.

He was born in Rumford, Maine on February 6th, 1960, to his loving parents Clarence D. and Mary E. (Bickford) Smith. He was educated in Mexico schools all his life. Prior to graduating in the Class of 1978, he was heavily involved in the theater department while also playing trombone and drums in the marching band.

In 1980, with his brother Joey and friend Elliott by his side, he enlisted in the National Guard, where he served for several years before being honorably discharged. In 1983, after years of courtship, Tim married the love of his life, Carol (Lapointe) on August 27th, and then proceeded to spend the next 33 years lovingly devoted to her and their three children.

For over 30 years, Tim was employed by the Archibald family, first as a Mechanic for Archies Inc., and later as an over-the-road parts salesman and Shop Manager for A&A Parts and Repair. There were very few things on a car or a big rig that he couldn't fix.

He loved to fish, which he did often with his wife, and enjoyed watching NASCAR. Aside from his more basic hobbies, Tim was a talented and versatile musician who, when he wasn't playing keyboards at home, was playing drums on the road all over New England with countless other talented musicians.

Tim was survived by his loving wife, Carol, his father, Clarence, his children, Josh, Janelle, and Cody, his "adopted children", Mary Smith and Joseph Hardy, and his nephew, Jamie. He was predeceased by his mother, Mary, and his brother, Joey.
