He was born in Rockland, Maine on February 4, 1957 a son of Violet (Widdecombe) and William R. Pinkerton, Sr.
Bill was educated in Rockland and Portland schools.
He was employed as a Lobsterman and Clammer as a young man, and later was employed at the Portland Press Herald.
Bill was an avid fisherman and was a member of the Fish and Wildlife Club, and the North American Hunting Club.
Surviving are his wife Johann L. (Smith) Pinkerton; two children, Christopher Foster, Sr. of Biddeford, and Sean Foster of Mexico; two sisters, Cheryl White of Westbrook, and Carol Buzzell of Westbrook; two brothers, James Pinkerton and wife Gayle of Bridgton, and Scott Pinkerton of Biddeford; a grandson Christopher Foster, Jr., and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents and a brother Bruce Pinkerton.
