Lorraine L. May, 84, Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church, passed away the morning of November 19, 2015. She was lovingly surrounded by immediate family members as she took her last breaths after a long battle with heart disease.
Lorraine was born July 25, 1931 in St. Louis, Missouri, one of 11 children to Daniel H. May and Eulalia L. (Doyle) May. She was a beloved mother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend to many.
She was truly blessed and survived by her five children, Tom (Billy) Groll of St. Louis, Ellen (Mike) Skinner of Kirkwood, Jack (Tana) Groll of Rogersville, MO, Carol (Joann) Groll of Springfield, MO, Philip (Lee) Groll of Ash Grove, MO.
Lorraine absolutely adored seven grandchildren, Sonya (Davin) Lawson, Jace Groll, Audrey (Lee) Peppin, Delia Groll, Jory and Keegan Clark, and Abby Skinner.
She was also blessed with six great-grandchildren, Rylan, Ella and Harper Lawson, Claire Peppin, and Anderson and Nora Braeckel.
Lorraine resided most of her life in St. Louis but also spent many years in Ash Grove, Missouri. She attended the old Lorreto Academy and was a charter member of the "Kevin Club" of the old Immaculate Conception Parish in the near Southside neighborhood of St. Louis.
Friends and family will never forget her infectious laughter or her ability to turn any conversation into a song. She was a talented jazz singer, one of Mae Wheeler's "Divas", who spent many years performing at various venues around St. Louis, Springfield and Branson, as well as an occasional family wedding reception. She was passionate about singing, spending time with family, writing lyrics or poems, enjoyed reading, and was a legendary pie and cake baker, especially her often requested Red Velvet Cake.
Lorraine will be forever loved and adored by those she leaves behind.
