Bertha Catherine Van Meter

Bertha Catherine Van Meter, 80, passed away Monday, October 19, 2015 surrounded by family. Born in Petersburg, WV she was the daughter of the late, John and Margie Ratcliff. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who enjoyed church and traveling. She is survived by six children, Roger D. Van Meter (Angelita), Cecil Van Meter (David Clayton), Catherine Jones (Douglas), Doris Williamson, Michael W. Van Meter, Bruce P. Patterson; her beloved dog , Lucy; grandchildren, Forrest Van Meter (Kristi), Carolyn Wright (Eric), Catherine Wheatley, Bobbie Jean Watson, Laurie Haglock (Pete), Matthew Jones (Teri Lynn), Kyle Jones, Keith Andrews, Michael Van Meter, Jr.; several great-grandchildren, three brothers, Bill, Sam, and Gerald Ratcliff; sister, Ruth Smith; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest S. Van Meter; grandson, Charles Michael Stubbs; three brothers, and three sisters. A Celebration of Bertha’s Life will be held Friday at 7pm at Bounds Funeral Home on East Main Street in Salisbury where friends may call one hour prior to the service.
