Betsy Rayne Ruark

Betsy graduated from Pittsville High School in 1968 and became a Beautician. She later went to work as a Dispatcher for the Ocean Pines Police Department for 32 years until she retired in 2014. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who enjoyed the beach and camping but most of all enjoyed spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband of 37 years, John “Jack” E. Ruark, Jr.; daughter, Kimberly Lynne Shockley; three step-children, John E. Ruark III (Karen), Jill Ruark (Curtis), and Tara Ruark; six grandchildren, Amanda Shockley, Christopher John Moore, John Elton Ruark IV (Ashley), Lauren Ruark, Ashley Barthman, and Wade Fletcher III; seven great-grandchildren, Gianna Rayne Hotton, John Elton Ruark V, Lola Ruark, Asher Fletcher, McKenzie, Mason, and Mallory Barthman. She was preceded in death by her son, Brad Elliott.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 1 pm at Bounds Funeral Home on East Main Street in Salisbury where friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Pastor Daryl MCready will officiate. Interment will follow in Dennis Cemetery in Willards.
