
Donald Crawford Sewell, 90, of Salisbury passed away Friday, March 11, 2016. Born June 14, 1925 in Salisbury he was the son of the late George Crawford Sewell and Oma Brohawn Sewell. Mr. Sewell was a highly decorated WWII Veteran having served in the Army/ Air Corps, the 8th & 9th Airforce. Entering the war as Waist Gunner flying missions over France, he went on to be part of the Normandy Beach Invasion, the Liberation of Paris, the Ardennes Forest- Battle of the Bulge Campaign, and the invasion across the Rhine into Germany. He was a life-time member and former Commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 194 in Salisbury, and a long-time member the American Legion. He served as a Vestryman at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Hebron and on the Board of Directors of the Farmers Bank of Mardela Springs. Mr. Sewell worked for the State Highway Administration for over 30 years. He is survived by two sons, Charles B. Sewell and his wife Donna L. Sewell of North Carolina and Donald Craig Sewell of Mardela Springs, MD. He was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years Jacqueline E. Sewell in 1994. A graveside funeral service with Military Honors will be held Wednesday at 2pm at Mardela Memorial Cemetery in Mardela Springs. Rev. Dennis L. Morgan will officiate.
