

Dorothy “Dottie” Elliott Meade, 99, of Salisbury passed away Saturday, January 9, 2016 at her home. Born April 10, 1916 in Salisbury, she was the daughter of the late Clarence C. and Nellie K. Elliott whom she cared for in their home for many years. Mrs. Meade was a lifelong member of Bethesda United Methodist Church and the last member who walked with the congregation from the old Bethesda United Methodist Church to the present Bethesda United Methodist Church around the age of four. She taught Sunday School, was a member of United Methodist Women, and a member of the Bible Study group. She worked at Benjamin’s Department Store for eleven years and was in partnership with her husband in a public accounting firm for twenty years. Her greatest joy in life was caring for others. She is survived by her son, R. Elliott Meade, Sr. and his wife Sharon; grandsons, Robert E. Meade, Jr. and his wife Becky and T. Lincoln Meade and his wife Marnie; step grandson John Rippons; great-grandchildren, Bethany Meade, Brittany Donalds, T.J. Meade, Jr., and Christopher Meade; sister, Elaine Elliott; brother-in-law, Lawrence L. Meade; and four nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband of 78 years Frank L. Meade just four days prior and brother, Clarence C. Elliott, Jr. and his wife Maude. The family would like to thank the care-givers of Peninsula Home Care, Austin Home Care, and Coastal Hospice for their loving care during the last three months. A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 11AM at Bethesda United Methodist Church in Salisbury.
