

Galen R. Hammond, 71, of Salisbury passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2015 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake surrounded by his family. Born in Salisbury he was the son of the late Reese and Mary Hammond. After graduating in 1964 from Wi-Hi, Galen served in the Army National Reserve for four years. He retired from Perdue Farms where he was a truck driver for many years. After retirement he enjoyed hunting, woodworking, recycling scrap metal, and spending time with his family and many friends. He was a former long-time active member of the Salisbury Optimist Club and was a member of Liberty Church of Christ in Salisbury. He is survived by his wife, Patricia A. Hammond and although only married 20 years they spent the past 40 years together; four children, Gale Pierson (Rob Dorsey), Ray Hammond, Valerie Paquin (Gary), and Chris Brown; grandchildren, Tony Brown, Jessie Moore, Taylor Wachsmuth; great-grandchildren, Destiny, Lilah, and Peyton Brown, and Trent Wachsmuth; sisters, Cynthia Palmer, Marlene Keene, and Beth Bradford (JR); brothers, Arlie Hammond (Barbara) and Boyd Hammond; his four legged companion, Bella; and several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 27 at 1PM at Parsonsburg Volunteer Fire Department, on Old Ocean City Rd.
