

Jackson “Jack” Purnell White, 92, of Salisbury passed away Thursday, April 27, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family. Born in Salisbury he was the son of the late William H.J. White and Alice C. Conley White.
In 1943 Jack joined the United States Navy serving in WWII and then returned to Wicomico High School in 1945 to receive his diploma. In 1947 he began selling advertisement for the Daily Times until his retirement in 1987. He was a member of the Power Squadron, VFW Post 194 in Salisbury, and one of the early members of the Wicomico Yacht Club. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting, gardening, and traveling.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Margaret Truitt White; daughter, Penney Hill and her husband Jerry of Salisbury; two grandsons, Mike Berggren and his wife Michelle of Marydel, MD and Matt Berggren of Salisbury; two great-granddaughters, Makayla and Mattilynn Berggren; brother, Joseph C.B. White and his wife Shirley of Salisbury; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, William C. White.

A funeral service will be held Monday at 2pm at Bounds Funeral Home on East Main Street in Salisbury where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held in White Family Cemetery.
