Joyce Bailey Smith

Joyce Bailey Smith, 85, of Hebron, passed Saturday, May 17, 2014 at her daughters home where she had resided for the past three years. Raised in Federalsburg, she was the daughter of the late Gus B. Bailey and Louise B. Bailey.

She attended Cosmetology School in Baltimore and was a beautician for over 50 years in Salisbury. In 1947 she married Frank L. Smith, Jr. Joyce’s family was her first priority and was always willing to lend a helping hand. She will be missed by many. She always enjoyed working in her yard.

She leaves behind her daughter, Terri Nichols and husband Ken; sisters, Sis Bowie and Nancy Long-Marvel; daughter-n-law, Kris Smith-Murphy; grandchildren, Eric Hodges, Mike Hodges, and Madi Smith; great-grandchildren, Dylan and Lindsey Hodges; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank L. Smith, Jr.; and a son, Steven Smith.

A special thanks to Companion Homecare and her care givers, Madilyn Gray and Sheila Fields; as well as the wonderful support and help from Coastal Hospice.

A funeral service will be held Thursday at 11AM at Bounds Funeral Home on East Main Street in Salisbury where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Springhill Memory Gardens in Hebron.
