

Salisbury: Mrs. Kaye Shumate Reichenberg, 51, of Salisbury, MD passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family and friends on Friday, October 23, 2015 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury, MD. Born February 13, 1964 in Bluefield, West Virginia, she is the daughter of Diana and Kelly Shumate of Snow Hill, MD. She is survived by her loving husband of 31 years, David Reichenberg; two daughters, Kelsey and Karlie Reichenberg; two brothers, Pat and wife Pam Shumate of Owings, MD and Mike and Joanie Shumate of Snow Hill, MD; two brother-in-laws, John and wife Cindy Reichenberg and Mike Reichenberg all from Salisbury, MD; three nieces, Lindsey, Julia, Morgan Shumate, three nephews, Michael Shumate, John and Richie Reichenberg; one aunt, Sylvia Shumate. She is also survived and loved by several other family and friends. She is preceded in death by one uncle, Jerry Shumate; mother and father-in-law, Betty and Frank Reichenberg. Kaye graduated from Snow Hill High School in 1982 and went on to receive her Master’s Degree in mathematics from Salisbury University. Following college, she taught math at Bennett High School for twenty-eight years as well as served as the head of the math department. She also coached the Bennett Math Team to many awards. Outside of her school activities, she attended Oakridge Baptist Church in Salisbury and supported her daughters in their time-consuming ballet endeavors with the Salisbury Dance Academy and the Eastern Shore Ballet Theatre. With her courageous battle with the return of breast cancer, the family expresses their deepest gratitude for the kind and hopeful care she received from the compassionate medical staff at John’s Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Peninsula Regional Medical Center, and Coastal Hospice at the Lake. As dear friends of Kaye, the Rustic Acres friends and neighbors stood by her side and her family as she fought the fight, and the entire family is forever grateful for your prayers and support. An informal Memorial Service to celebrate Kaye’s life will be held on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at 1:00 PM at the Oakridge Baptist Church, 361 Tilghman Rd, Salisbury, MD 21804. Pastor Gordon Nock will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Kaye’s honor to Coastal Hospice at the Lake, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802.
