Marcia Carr Carper

Marcia Carr Carper, 84, of Hebron passed away Friday, January 17, 2025 at Wicomico Nursing Home. Born in Indianapolis, IN on March 5, 1940, to her late parents, Daniel J. Carr and Mabel Hootman Carr. She is survived by husband, James F Carper, Sr. with whom she just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on January 9th; her children, James F Carper, Jr “Chip” (Marguerite) of Laurel, DE, Susan O’Flaherty (Phil) of Newburyport, MA, Carren Cooper (Todd) of Bristol, VA, and Kristen Wheatley of Hebron, MD; grandchildren whom she absolutely adored, Whitney Collins (Zeke), Sarah Howard (Greg), Chad Cathell (Paige), McKinsey Venable (David), Chase Cathell (Tra’Vesia), Jack Wheatley, Aidan and Mairin O’Flaherty, and Will and Todd Cooper; fifteen great-grandchildren whom she loved so much; sisters, Catherine Cloud, Danielle McCauley (Steve), and Rusty Ehmann; nieces, Bridget Brancato, Rachel Cloud, and Meghan McCauley and her God-Daughter, Debi Vincent-Blasé; Along with many remarkably close friends that she considered her family.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Bright M. Carper, mother-in-law Dorthea V. Carper, and niece, Sarah Ingham Cain.

She attended High School at Marymount and attended College at William and Mary. She worked at the Pentagon, Ocean Medical, Apple Discount Drugs, and PRMC where she retired from. She truly loved working and made some amazing friends through her work. She was also a volunteer for Coastal Hospice for several years and a member at Green Hill Yacht and Country Club where she could be found with her friends in the corner catching a good tan.

She was a second Mom to her children’s friends, loved them like her own, and they always loved being at Jim and Marsh’s house!

She absolutely loved attending Rockawalkin Church.

A special heartfelt thanks to the amazing staff at Wicomico Nursing Home as well as Coastal Hospice for caring for her for the last year and a half. You are all truly amazing and our family appreciates it so much.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 1pm at Rockawalkin Church, 6777 Rockawalkin Rd, Hebron MD 21830 where friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Rev. Steve Hands will officiate.
