Robert “Poncho” Irvin Taylor, Sr. 74, of Siloam passed away Sunday, November 13, 2022 after a short battle with cancer. Born February 12, 1948 in Salisbury and raised in Eden he was the son of the late Ralph Irvin Taylor and Margie Louise Wilkins Taylor.
He was a United States Army Vietnam Veteran and retired from Barr Freight Liner in Delmar where he worked as a diesel mechanic. He enjoyed fishing, shooting muzzleloaders, and canning. In the past, he was a member of Allen Volunteer Fire Company and the Pocomoke Seventh Day Adventist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Lillian Taylor; son, Robert Irvin Taylor, Jr. (Casie Whetzel); daughter, Sherry Slate (Wayne); Scott Holt (Melanie) who was like his son; grandchildren, Jordan, Harley, Liam, Savannah, Wayne, Jr., Danielle, Emily, Madison, and Hannah; great-grandchild, Kingston; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, John, George, and Alan Taylor.
A funeral service will be held Thursday at 11am Bounds Funeral Home on East Main Street in Salisbury where friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Springhill Memory Gardens.
