He was extremely proud of his service in the US Army. Following his service, he enjoyed his career as a heavy equipment operator for many local businesses. Roy was an avid fisherman and loved hunting, especially rabbits. He was a family man and adored his grandchildren, especially when they were babies. He and his wife were members of the Peninsula Bluegrass Association.
Roy is survived by his four children, Cheryl Rantz and her husband Jeff, Roy “Allen” Vance, Jr. and his wife Patti, Robert Vance and his wife Margaret, and Charles Vance; seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; sister, Nancy Malnor and brother, Freddie Vance, long-time special friend, Gayleen White, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years in 2019, Joyce Ann Vance, as well as siblings, Charles Vance, Robert Vance, Marie Elkins, Edith Mahan, Mattie Pruitt, Jackie Vance, Mary Ball, Russell Vance, and James Vance.
A funeral service will be held at 12pm on Thursday, August 17, 2023 at Bounds Funeral Home on East Main Street in Salisbury where friends may call one hour prior. Trent Molnar will officiate the service. Interment with military honors will follow at Springhill Memory Gardens in Hebron.
The family would like to thank the staff at Wicomico Nursing Home for the love and care they showed Roy during his time there.
