Sharon A. Shorter Powell

Sharon A. Powell, 68, of Salisbury passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at her residence surrounded by her family. Born in Maryland she was the daughter of the late Harold and Jean Payne Shorter. She was the wife of the late William “Billy” Powell who departed a year ago. Sharon was very patriotic and loved all things red white and blue. She loved to dance, animals, collecting knickknacks and her Dr. Pepper. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a graduate of James M. Bennett High School Class of 1966 which was the first graduating class. Sharon worked for Hallmark for over 20 years. She is survived by her daughter, April Powell and her companion, Darren Parker; a son, Bryan Smullen and his wife, Mary Lou; Grandchildren, Brittany and Arianna. Three great-grandchildren, Raymond, Na’Mier, and Aubree. Also survived by many good friends. A Service to Celebrate Sharon’s Life will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Bounds Funeral Home, 705 East Main Street in Salisbury where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Wicomico Memorial Park.
