Virginia B. Britton, 100 of Chincoteague passed away Monday, May 31, 2021 at Riverside Memorial Hospital in Onancock, VA. Born November 5, 1920 in Halifax County, North Carolina she was the daughter of the late Renzie and Ethel Bryant.
She was a loving wife, mother, and partner to her husband supporting his ministry for over 50 years of which more than 25 years were at Union Baptist Church in Chincoteague. She had a passion for gardening and cooking.
She is survived by her three sons, Raymond L. Britton, Jr. (Angie), Donald “Butch” W. Britton (Barbara), and Gary D. Britton (Sue); four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Rev. Raymond L. Britton, Sr. in 2003; a grandson, Raymond L. Britton, III; brothers, Archie Bryant, John Bryant; and sisters, Sadie Bakel, Emma Johnson, and Totsie Dixon.
A funeral service will be held Thursday at 12pm at Union Baptist Church, 6365 Church St, Chincoteague, VA 23336. Interment will follow in Wicomico Memorial Park. Friends may visit Wednesday evening from 6pm-8pm at Bounds Funeral Home on East Main Street in Salisbury and one hour prior to the service at Union Baptist Church.
