Walter (Walt) Thomas Dashiell, Sr., 80, of Greenwood, Delaware was called home by our Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 14, 2023. Walt was born on April 19, 1943 at his family home in Mount Vernon, Maryland to his late parents, William and Margie Lamore Dashiell.
Upon leaving school, Walt enlisted in the United States Army. After leaving the service, he worked at Dresser Wayne Co. for over 30 years before retiring. While at Dresser, Walt served as a representative with the UAW employee union.
Walt was a proud member of the VFW, American Legion Post 0064, and the Improved Order of the Red Men. He was also a Master Mason hailing from Wicomico Lodge No. 91 and 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason hailing from the Valley of Baltimore.
Walt is survived by his wife of 57 years, Bonnie Lee Bounds Dashiell; daughters Kimberly White (Randy), Michelle McDowell (Mark) and son Donald Dashiell (Lynda); daughter-in-law April Dashiell; grandchildren: Shane Dashiell, Brandon White (Jonnie), Ashley Dashiell, Amber King (Justin), Matt White (Stacey), Katrina Izquierdo, Taylor Coco (Zac), Ben Dashiell (Logan), Jesse Adams, Megan McDowell; 15 great-grandchildren with another expected in March 2024; and a special nephew Steve Carter (Kate). He was preceded in death by his son, Walter Dashiell, Jr. and siblings Mary-Ann Baker, Margaret Slaughter, and William Dashiell.
Walt enjoyed spending time with his family and sharing his jellybeans with his great-grandchildren. He was known for wearing Hawaiian shirts and shorts year round. Walt was an avid NASCAR fan and loved visiting Ocean City to people watch.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
