Wayne “Portie” Morris Davenport, 87, of Salisbury passed away peacefully Monday, December 22, 2025, at Coastal Hospice at the Lake. Born September 28, 1938, he was the son of the late Erman and Katherine Davenport.
Wayne was a United States Army Veteran. He worked at Vienna Power Plant with Delmarva Power until he retired in 1998. After retirement he enjoyed traveling, woodworking, and taking care of his yard. He loved spending time and traveling with his family and was sure to attend all his grandchildren’s activities. He was a member of Zion Church, the Elks lodge 817 of Salisbury, and the Wicomico 91 Chapter of Freemasons.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marlene Davenport; two daughters, Debra “Debbie” Ann Christian and her husband, Drew, and Theresa Lynn Evans and her husband, Sean; six grandchildren, Nate Christian and his wife, Anna, Matthew Christian and his wife, Nicole, Ben Strouth, Izzie Evans, Lincoln Strouth, and Eliza Evans; brother, Ronnie Davenport, brother-in-law, Sherwood Hearn and wife Edna; and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Zion Church of Salisbury, 31104 Zion Road, Salisbury, MD 21804 on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at 11am with visitation from 10-11am. A private interment will be at a later date. Pastor Drew Christian will officiate.
