Anselmo “Chemo” Regalado passed away peacefully on October 22, 2025, at the age of 71. Born on September 10, 1954, in San Antonio, Texas, Chemo was the kind of person who showed love through action. Hard-working, creative, and endlessly resourceful, his strength and spirit were gifts to everyone around him. A loving soul with a generous heart, his kindness and humor touched all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Chemo was married to Rachel T. Regalado, his beloved wife of 52 years—a true testament to their enduring love and partnership. He was preceded in death by his parents, Juan Lopez Regalado and Adela Treviño Regalado; his brother, Erasmo Caballero; his sister, Elvira M. García; and his granddaughter, Jazel Lauren Regalado.
A gifted craftsman, Chemo was an all-around handyman and self-employed artisan whose skills spanned woodwork, carpentry, upholstery, art, and cabinetry. Known for his precision and dedication, he found joy in learning new skills and perfecting old ones. One of his proudest accomplishments was renovating his childhood home—a project that stands as a reflection of his love, perseverance, and craftsmanship. His family will cherish it for generations, knowing how much of himself he poured into every detail.
Outside of his work, Chemo found happiness in life’s simple pleasures—spending time with family and friends, playing pool, sports, chess, dominoes, or old board games, and relaxing while watching classic westerns.
He was a steadfast man with a big heart, always ready to lend a hand in any way he could. Whether he was installing a kitchen sink, building a wooden cabinet, wiping the sweat from his forehead with his bandana, or handing someone his handkerchief when they needed it most, Chemo always showed up—reliable, generous, and ready to help. He gave freely of himself, his knowledge, and his time, never expecting anything in return—though he certainly appreciated a nice cold one when the work was done.
Those who knew Chemo will remember him not only for all he did but for who he was—a loving husband, father, and grandfather; a devoted friend and caring family member; a man whose presence made life richer and more meaningful. His legacy of love, generosity, and joy will live on in every life he touched.
Chemo is survived by his children: Blanca Regalado (Gregory), Anthony Regalado, Connie R. Flores (Rudy), and Duke Danny Regalado. His legacy continues through his nine grandchildren: Alisha Nicole Thomas Holmes, Kyra Monique Thomas, Justice Anthony Regalado, Rudy Mateo R. Flores, J’Lauren Morgyn Thomas, Lorenzo Omar R. Flores, Xabi Tristian R. Flores, and Avery Autumn Regalado; as well as his four great-grandchildren: Alonzo Holmes, Malachi Holmes, Matthew Holmes, and Michael Holmes. He is also survived by his siblings: Elodia Rodriguez, Angelita Regalado Tamez, Juan Antonio Regalado, Richard Regalado, Maria Luisa Turrubiate, and Rosalinda Pina.
