

Barbara Ann (Nosiglia) Patton was born August 29, 1931 in Braintree, Massachusetts, daughter of Victor Nosiglia and Edna Marie Brennan. She is preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Kathleen, her grandson, David Britton, her sister Nancy and her husband Bob; her brother Victor and his wife Bernice; and her brother Richard and his wife Beverly.
Barbara grew up in Hingham, Massachusetts and graduated from Hingham High School in 1949. She worked for the John Hancock Insurance Company for two years prior to entering the Air Force in 1951. She entered her military service as a Women's Air Corps in the newly formed United States Air Force, working for the OSS. She served honorably for four years and met her husband in Wiesbaden, Germany where they were both stationed.
After completing her time in service, she married William Patton in February 1955. Together, they had six children, Carol Ann (Richard Sexton); Kathleen Marie (Larry Lunsford); Therese Christine (Steve Perry); Pamela Jean (John Bridges); Patricia Lee (Thornton Bates); and William Alexander, Jr. (Catherine Serville). She leaves behind 18 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
Barbara was a devout Catholic. She donated to many Catholic charitable organizations. Her favorite was the Maryknoll Missionaries, in honor of Father Diffley who was a spiritual mentor in her early years. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and served with the Military Ministry there.
While rearing six children and working a full time job, she earned an Accounting Associate's Degree from San Antonio College. She was an avid reader and was always informed on the news and issues of the day. She had a sharp mind.
She knitted for many years despite having a rare form of arthritis. Barbara loved to swim and did so for many years. She regularly played canasta at Faithful Friends.
She left this world to be with Jesus on January 31, 2024, at home with her grandson Joseph and her daughter Patti by her side.
She leaves behind many friends and family. She loved all of her children most of all.
The family wishes to thank Lily Birch, her home healthcare assistant, the many doctors and nurses who cared for her at Audie Murphy Medical Center, and Susan of Anchorage Hospice. If you wish, in lieu of flowers the family asks that you donate in her honor to a charitable organization of your choice.
A viewing will be held Wednesday, February 14, 2024 at Roy Akers Funeral Home, 515 N Main Ave, San Antonio, Texas from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a rosary at 7:00 PM. A funeral mass will be held the following day, Thursday, February 15, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 16075 N Evans Rd., Selma, Texas. Burial will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
