Carlos R. Valdez

Carlos R. Valdez known as "Charlie" by most was born to Angela Rodriguez and Salvador G. Valdez on January 2, 1930 in San Antonio, Texas passed through the gates of Heaven on October 12, 2012. Carlos attended Fox Tech high School and joined the U.S. Merchant Marines then, enlisted into the U.S. Navy followed by an enlistment into the U.S. Marines Corps. He saw combat action in Korea. He retired from Kelly Air Force Base as a civilian Quality Control Inspector after 35 years.

He is survived by Carlos Valdez Jr. and wife Cindy Valdez and children Monique Rico, and Deeanna Valdez, Salvador M. Valdez and wife Gilda Valdez and children Salvador Miguel, Julianne, Daniela, Joshua and great grandchild Audrey, grandson Michael Schauer (born to daughter Darlene Valdez), and wife Brittany, great grandchildren Levi and Jace, brother Theodore “Teddy” and wife Rosie, sisters Suzanne Zuniga, Velia Sandoval and Celia Villarreal. Preceded in death by mother, Angela Rodriguez Valdez, father, Salvador G. Valdez, Sr., wife Adelina C. Valdez and, daughter Darlene Valdez, brother and sisters Salvador G. Valdez Jr., Sophie Valdez Pearson, Lucy Rodriguez, Carmen Valdez, Angela “Mickey” Valdez, Ramona Valdez, Jose and Maria (twins) Valdez, Beatrice Valdez and brother Salvador Villarreal Valdez.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with Rosary starting at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday October 17, 2012 at Del Angel Roy Akers Funeral Home, 515 North Main Avenue, San Antonio, Texas. Mass will be held on Thursday, October 18, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic church, 418 Indiana Street, San Antonio, Texas. Interment will follow at Mission Park South Cemetery, 1700 S.E. Military Drive, San Antonio, Texas.
