

Catalina Zertuche Martinez entered eternal rest in Kyle, Texas on August 26, 2016 at the age of 98. Born in Galeana, Nuevo Leon,Mexico on January 6, 1918 to Jose Maria and Patricia Zertuche; she now reunites with her parents, brothers: Manuel, Leopoldo, Alfonso, Margarito, and Pedro, and daughter-in-law, June Martinez. She is survived by her children, Anna Lillian (Michael) Canning, Xavier Martinez, Hugo Martinez; grandchildren: Lisa (Julio)Galvan, Amanda (Bradley) Smith, Sheena (Matt) Elenbaas, Alison Martinez; great-grandchildren: Jake Galvan, Luke Galvan, Adelaide Elenbaas; and numerous other relatives. Catalina was a seamstress for most of her life. She began at a young age sewing bull fighter outfits and gradually became phenomenal at the skill. She was experienced in the kitchen making some of the most delicious meals, but was known for her delicious tamales and calabazita. She also had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening in her free time or reading the bible. Her love and presence will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her. The family will be receiving guests at the funeral home on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A procession will depart the funeral home on Friday, September 2, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. to celebrate a Mass of Resurrection at San Fernando Cathedral.
