Edelmira Rodriguez

Edelmira Varela Rodriguez, age 89, passed away June 20, 2017 in San Antonio, Texas. Edelmira Varela Rodriguez was born September 21, 1927 to Benjamin and Esperanza (Zaffa) Varela. Edelmira was a devoted wife to her husband, Guadalupe S. Rodriguez, for over 60 years, and loving mother of five children, and doting grandmother of eight grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.

Edelmira spent the early years of her marriage as an Army wife, traveling the globe with her husband and children. After her husband retired from the U.S. Army, they settled in San Antonio, and she earned her LVN. She worked as an LVN for ten years at Morningside Manor, and another twenty years at the Center for Health Care as a substance abuse nurse.

Edelmira is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Guadalupe, and her daughter Deborah Erickson. She is survived by her children Mary Lou Almendarez and husband Frank, Sandra Ozuna and husband Armando, Armand Rodriguez and wife Mary, and David Rodriguez and wife Mellissa Marlowe; grandchildren Jennifer Acosta and husband Roland, Melanie Silletti and husband Peter, Melissa Holguin and husband Michael, Kimberly Erickson, Gabriel Almendarez and wife Kathryn, Andrew Almendarez and wife Shelly, Ruben Almendarez and wife Tanja, and Paulina Rodriguez; and great grandchildren Zackary Acosta, Dominique Acosta, Elizabeth Silletti, Anthony Silletti, Isabella Oviedo, Michael Holguin, Jr., Lola Holguin, and Xavier Dean Seib-Almendarez.
