RETIRED ARMY Master Sergeant EDWARD C. HUBSTER, from Holland Indiana, went to meet his Maker on Wednesday, 4 May 2022, at the age of 80, in San Antonio, TX. He accepted and valiantly faced his terminal cancer diagnosis. While enjoying his favorite foods, he liked calling his wife and seeing his nieces, nephews. He remained upbeat throughout his illness. He bought a computer, copier, larger TV & refrigerator, all his comforts.
He liked being with his wife and enjoyed being at home, relaxing and going out to eat. He liked to be with family, as well as having family gatherings at home for holidays and at restaurants. He was loving, kind and generous not only toward his wife but also toward family, friends, and others.
Upon his second retirement, Ed worked diligently for years and made great strides in his and his wife’s genealogy. He loved watching military movies, old and new Westerns, detective movies and new TV movies.
He joined and proudly served in the Army from 1959, till retirement in 1984. Under Walter Reed Army Medical Research Team, US Army Institute of Research in Vietnam, as SSG, Ed served from 10 Sep 1967-30 Apr 1971. He served in Vietnam for five years. He was stationed at Brooke Army Medical Center twice, as a Lab Technician, at the old BAMC Hosp and at Beach Pavilion Labs. He was NCOIC, Veterinary Section at Dept of Pathology & Area Lab Services. After his promotion to MSG, he was NCOIC, Dept of Pathology & Area Lab Svcs, BAMC, FSHTX. Throughout his Army career, he received the Meritorious Service Medal and many other awards. He also cowrote a paper. After retirement, he worked at the Drug Testing Lab at Brooks Air force Base and retired from there in 2000 as Supervisor.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel & Elsie Hubster, and two brothers, Ronald & Samuel Hubster.
He is survived by his wife, Socorro D. Hubster; his son Edward C. Hubster Nguyen Jr., wife Tuyet; grandchildren Edward, III; Nguyen, Tracy, & Sandy; & daughter Lieng (Lisa) Nguyen Noc, grandsons Kennythay Nguyen & great granddaughter, Penelope Rose Nguyen; Tony Tran & granddaughter Brandie Nguyen; his nieces and nephews, Eddie & wife Lizette Cadena, sons Nathan & Dane Cadena and Jesse Joel Gomez, wife Belinda Gomez, son Phillip Jesse Gomez, Nohely, daughters, Kassya Gomez & Kayla Gomez. Also survived by his niece Rebecca Hubster, husband, sons & daughters, and many other nieces & nephews.
A heartfelt and very special thanks and appreciation to Eddie & Lizette Cadena and their sons, for their unwavering support and assistance of their beloved Uncle Ed. They lovingly, caringly, and steadily assured that all their Uncle Edward’s needs were met.
A big thanks to Jesse and Belinda Gomez, Philip and Nohely, and Kassya and Kayla, for their Uncle Ed’s steadfast love and caring support.
