Elvira C. Garcia

Elvira C. Garcia entered eternal rest in Austin, Texas on August 13, 2016 at the age of 82. Born to Edwin and Hortencia Centeno in San Antonio, Texas on January 17, 1934; she was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Herbert Garcia, and brother Edwin Centeno. She is survived by her children: Elizabeth (James) Almanza, Irene (David) Sonnen, Herbert (Diana) Garcia Jr.; grandchildren: Melissa Almanza, Monica Sonnen, Herbert M. Garcia, Sarah Sonnen, Laura Garcia, Natalie Sonnen, Elyse Sonnen, Gabriela Almanza; great-grandchildren: Andy, Izayah, Sophia, Isabella, Ava, Anthony, Gordon; brothers; Oscar Centeno and Louis Anthony Trinidad, sisters: Lillian Joyner, Irma Medina, Lea Marie Trinidad; and numerous other relatives. Elvira enjoyed being in the comfort of her home raising her children, playing games with them especially checkers, or watching her novelas. When she was not home, she enjoyed strolling the river walk or downtown San Antonio, and going to church. Her love and presence will be missed by those who knew her. The family will receive guests at the funeral home on Saturday, August 20, 2016 from 1:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. for a visitation. Services will continue on Sunday, August 21, 2016 with visitation from 5:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Celebration of her life will be held on Monday, August 22, 2016 at La Trinidad United Methodist Church at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Ft.
