Emma D. Perez

On January 26, 2018, Mrs. Emma D. Perez went home to be with Our Lord. She was born on December 29, 1933 in San Antonio, Texas. She was 84 years old and is preceded in death by her loving husband, Dr. Raul F. Perez Jr., her parents Jose and Josefina De Los Santos, sister Blanche Hare, brother Joe De Los Santos, her beloved daughter June Rios and her son in law George Moreno.

She is survived by her Daughters: Joyce (Hugo) De Los Santos, Nancy Moreno, Lynn (John) Medina, Gail (Art) Lopez, Sons; Richard (Lillian) Ramos and Michael (Santa) Morales; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and brothers Jesse (Lupe) De Los Santos and Armando (Lupe) De Los Santos.

Mrs. Perez graduated from Jefferson High School in San Antonio in 1952. She was very devoted to her parents as a caregiver for many years, while trying to raise a family of seven children and attending nursing school to become a Nurse. She eventually became the team leader in the Leukemia Children’s Floor at Santa Rosa Children’s Hospital of San Antonio. She cared so much for her patients & enjoyed being a nurse. In 1970 she volunteered to go to Corpus Christi, TX to provide medical relief to stricken families during Hurricane Celia. She was very committed to her profession, so her children could have a better lifestyle.

Mrs. Perez loved spending time with her children, especially during the large family gatherings and her favorites were Thanksgiving and Christmas. She will be missed tremendously, as she was the foundation and the rock of her family. She was a strong believer in opening her doors to any family member or close family friends faced with challenging experiences and for those who were in a critical time of need. She was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and an overall sports fan.

Mrs. Perez loved music and even though she has passed away, her children will always remember her favorite songs, including “I Did It My Way” which was her personal motto. She will be in her children’s hearts forever.

Pallbearers are; Richard Ramos Jr., Arthur Lopez Jr., Jake Moreno, Eric Lopez, Johnny Medina Jr. and Nicholas Rios.

Visitation will be held at Roy Akers Funeral Home on Tuesday, Feb 6, 2018 from 5:00-7:00 PM. Rosary will follow at 7:00 PM. The Mass of the Resurrection will be held Wednesday, Feb 7, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, 1600 St. Cloud Street with internment to follow at San Fernando Cemetery 2, 746 Castroville Road, San Antonio, TX 78237.
