

George Clark, 89, passed away peacefully Friday, January 16. He leaves his loving wife of 56 years, Ruth Torres Clark; daughter, R. Yvette Clark (partner, Mary Smith); sister, Blanche Clark Armendariz; brother, Hector Clark (wife, Ellen Riojas Clark); numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, George Clark III (1989) and his brother, William Clark (1979).
George was the eldest son of George and Blanca Cruz Aedo Clark. He earned a Bachelor’s degree from Trinity University and Master’s from UT Austin. He served in the Army during the Korean War.
George dedicated 41 years as an educator, teacher, principal and counselor working for Edgewood ISD and inspired many students to attend Ivy League universities.
George was a lifelong member at La Trinidad United Methodist Church where he served as a lay leader and Sunday school teacher. His community service included Metro Alliance and Texas Diaper Bank.
In his later years, George relished lively conversations about all subjects. His dry wit and love of language will be greatly missed.
