Born in San Antonio, TX, Gilbert worked for the City of San Antonio for 30 years. He met Teresa Peralta, his love and wife of 57 years, through family friends and together they had two daughters. He worked many years at The City of San Antonio in the maintenance division where he retired. Prior to working for The City of San Antonio, he worked with his brother who was the proprietor of Sudden Cleaners and Snow White Cleaners for many years.
Gilbert was a member of Christ the King, St. Francis, Our Lady of Sorrows and St. Brigid parishes for many years and was a proud high school graduate of Texas School for the Deaf in Austin, TX.
Gilbert loved to travel, especially with family. There were many trips across the country. He also enjoyed his trips to Canada and Mexico. He was an avid fan of sports and he loved watching his favorite football team the Dallas Cowboys and basketball team the San Antonio Spurs. If it wasn’t football or basketball season he always had a sporting event on TV. His photography was also a favorite pastime. He loved taking pictures of all his travels and loved documenting every family and friend event. Gilbert was a gentle, social and loving father. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Teresa, and was an embodiment of love and compassion to everyone he knew. He had the best smile, laugh and gave the best hugs. His laugh was so infectious that it would make everyone around him laugh. We had so many fun times together.
