Guadalupe A. Alonzo, age 97, passed away on Monday, October 21, 2024. She was born in McAllen, Texas on August 2, 1927, Guadalupe was a cherished member of her community and a beloved matriarch to her family.
For 20 years, Guadalupe dedicated her work to Barrio Health Clinic, where her compassion and commitment touched the lives of many. She had great enthusiasm for life, which she expressed through her passions for telenovelas, Tejano music, and the festive spirit of fiesta week. Guadalupe also enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas and found joy in arts, crafts, and sewing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Victoria Pena and Evaristo Alonzo; her brother, Leopoldo Alonzo; her granddaughter, Andrea; and her husband, Jesus (Ranchero) Alonzo.
Guadalupe is survived by her loving daughters, Maria Victoria (Richard), Theresa Carol (Ram), Viola Bertha (Ralph, deceased), Jessica Bernadette (Milton, deceased); and son Jesus Jr. (Gloria). She leaves behind a legacy of love and strength that will be remembered by all who knew her.
She will be loved and missed by her Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren and Great-Great Grandchildren.
A visitation for Guadalupe will be held Tuesday, October 29, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Roy Akers, 515 North Main Ave, San Antonio, TX 78205. A rosary will occur Tuesday, October 29, 2024 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM, 515 North Main Ave, San Antonio, TX 78205. A funeral mass will occur Wednesday, October 30, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 1204 Castroville Rd, San Antonio, TX 78237. A graveside service will occur Wednesday, October 30, 2024 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at San Fernando Cemetery II, 746 Castroville Rd, San Antonio, TX 78237
