Inez Doris Chavana

Inez Doris Chavana, age 97, passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2025. Inez was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and beloved member of her extended family. She will be remembered for her kind heart, strong faith, and deep love for her family.

Inez had a passion for sewing, gardening, and plant propagation, often bringing new life to her favorite greenery. She was an animal lover who found joy and companionship in caring for pets throughout her life. Her evenings were filled with watching soap operas, particularly General Hospital, which she loved. Inez’s faith was the cornerstone of her life, and her unwavering devotion inspired those around her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Cristobol De La Garza and Bertha Bauer; her beloved daughter, Melissa Chavana; siblings Katherine Trevino, Lola Alfaro, Hilda De La Garza, Julie De La Garza, Drake De La Garza, and Albert De La Garza; niece Pauline Hernandez; nephew Brian Trevino; and daughter-in-law Sally Chavana.

She is survived by her loving children, Elizabeth Diane Chavana, Cynthia Ann Chavana, Jesse Chavana Jr., and Johnny Orlando Chavana; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Her family was the center of her world, and her love for them knew no bounds.

A visitation will be held in her honor on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Roy Akers, 515 North Main Ave, San Antonio, TX 78205. A memorial service will follow from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM to celebrate her life and the legacy she leaves behind.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to ABODE Home Hospice, whose exceptional care and compassion brought comfort to Inez in her final days.

Inez touched the hearts of everyone who knew her. Her warmth, strength, and love will remain in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
