It’s been a year since my great - grandmother has passed. I miss her dearly and I wish she was here longer to see all the accomplishments i’ve done that she wanted to experience while she was still here. She was the sweetest woman i’ve known throughout my years of living. I can technically say she raised me growing up. She meant a lot to me and I wish I could see her once more. I know she’s in a better place now. The last thing she told me to remember before she passed was to always keep my faith in The Lord, and I still have. I will miss you a lot grandma. - Elizabeth

To an Irene's family. She was a wonderful person and was always in great spirits. Remember the times when she was younger and used to come to my grandma's house, her mother, and they would cook and all the family would be there and have an awesome time. Aunt Irene was a person that always tried to bring the positive out of any negative situation. I will always remember her for her big heart and always looking out for someone else before she looked out for herself. She was always independent, loving, nurturing, peaceful, and good natured. We will miss her dearly as she is the last of the older crowd to leave the us behind. Let's all join together and enjoy the good times we had with her and may she now rest in peace in heaven with Mother Dear (their mother), Aunt Walter Lee Sampleton, Aunt Molly Jones, Johnny Harper Scott(her sisters), most of all Junior (her son) and other relatives as she missed them all dearly. Love you all and may God keep you all.

The last time I heard my auntie voice was my last time seeing her I thank God I was able to take my mom Minerva to go an visit auntie Irene. When I want to hear my auntie I can always replay these recordings  I have saved.

My last time seeing my great auntie Irene this picture hold a lot of peace right now for me. One always tell me why I always take pictures or stay camera ready 😂 I laughed and said “ I take pictures so I can capture the moments that last a lifetime” 
With that being said I forever will have this photo to always remember my great auntie Irene.

Irene is preceded in death by her great grandmother Mollie Wright; great grandfather Burl Jackson; mother Minerva Jackson; sisters Walter Lee Sampleston, Molly Mary Jones, Johnnie Mae Scott; husband Steve D. Smith Sr. and son Steve D. Smith Jr.


Ms. Smith is survived by her daughter Pamela Blevins; son-in-law Lonnie Blevins; grandson Christopher Blevins(Wife Tepora Blevins); Grandson Lonnie Blevins Jr. (Wife Monique Blevins); Granddaughter Sabrina Smith; Great-grandchildren Elizabeth brown, Isaiah Pierce, Noah Pierce, Teayr Bleavins, Leilana Blevins, Elijah Blevins, Imani Blevins; and numerous nieces and nephews.
