Joe Keith Holbrook, well known counselor and psychic has died at the age of 83, after a recent battle with cancer. Holbrook owned a successful construction and roofing company with his two sons in the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s, a catastrophe insurance claims business in the 90’s and early 00’s, and dabbled in classic automobile restoration in more recent years. “In addition to his many businesses over the years, Dad loved to use his particular and unusual skill to assist law enforcement agencies, at all levels, from San Antonio to Washington D.C. in investigating murder cases” said his oldest child, Suzan DeLoach. He worked with investigators in such high profile cases as the Chandra Levy murder case in Washington D.C. in 2002 and the Judge John Wood assassination case in San Antonio in 1979. He also authored several books and articles related to medical cures, some of which are being used today in clinical trials. He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas Jefferson and Mittie (Featherling) Holbrook, his brother, Thomas J. Holbrook, Jr. and two sisters, Marjorie Smith and Jerry Guise. He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Punky Holbrook, and his eight children, 31 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Marguerite Fischer of Corpus Christi, god-daughter Carole Elliott and her husband Boyce, godson Thomas J. (Jaybo) Holbrook III and his wife Brenda, his best friend Ron Shafer, and numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends. His happiest times were spent with his wife, Punky, and their children, Suzan DeLoach and her husband Jim, Linda O’Connor and her husband Tim, Bonnie Marx and her husband David, Joe K. Holbrook, Jr. and his wife Toni, Debra Manuppelli and her husband Scott, Nancy Hardy and her husband Mike, Patricia Holbrook, and Dana Holbrook and his wife Ibis. His sharp mind, quick wit, unique charm and willing acceptance of strangers in need made him a friend to many. His generosity to friends and family is well known. Never satisfied to be idle, he worked on his many projects, many of which involved a great deal of physical labor, even recently as his health failed. He was loved by many and he will be greatly missed. The family will be available to meet visitors at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 600 Oblate Drive, San Antonio, Texas, at 9:30 a.m., Friday, December 16, 2011. Rosary will begin at 10:00 a.m., with Mass to follow immediately thereafter. Reverend John O’Donoghue and Deacon J. D. Jorgensen will officiate. Private burial (immediate family only) will be at Mission Burial Park North Cemetery following the service. The family would like to thank the entire staff at St. Francis, especially Cordie Britten, for their kindness and loving care in his last few months, and the staff of Vitas Healthcare, especially Ron Laza, for the kind and professional care they provided during his last years.
